A good week, redux
Well, so much for the best laid plans. I was all excited about sleeping until the late hour of 0630 on Friday and taking a nice break from working out when I got a phone call from my running buddy asking if we could run on Friday so she could go to Body Pump on Saturday. My head was screaming "nooooooooo!!!! I want sleep!!!" but I ignored it and we got up and ran a nice 1.75 miles before resorting to intervals again. Given that last week's longest interval was 1.5 - I'm excited about how quickly E's endurance is increasing.
So great - another day in the bag and now I can sleep in on Saturday and just relax. Except not so much. I am such a sucker for socializing it's almost not funny! So when my running buddy and another woman who also just started Body Pump suggested we all get up and hit yoga at 0700, I hemmed and hawed again because I like hanging out with both of these ladies and yoga would be kind of relaxing but hey...sleeping in! Resting! Not going too hard too fast and burning out!!! But socializing won so I got up and went to yoga. LOVE yoga!!! It was demanding yet refreshing and I have missed it dearly since I left the city.
Onto plan 3: get up on Sunday, play some tennis, then Monday do my long 6 mile run. Once again, foiled! I woke up to rain on the roof and knew that tennis was awash so I decided I'd take a rest day. 5 hours later I was itching to exercise so I decided that instead of getting up at 0445 tomorrow, I'd get my run in today. It was still pouring, I was nervous because I haven't technically taken a day off yet and my legs were a little tired from yoga but I went out anyway. The crazy thing is I felt awesome! My stomache started cramping half-way through but not too badly and I kept expecting my legs to start screaming at me but they never did. In fact, I ran faster than I did last week and felt substantially better. Man, I'd forgotten how much I love this whole cross-training thing!
Here's to another great week ahead!
